Follow a
connection.
A family story and the history of a city both ask what we carry forward. A drawing can make a mathematical relationship visible. These are the connections I call resonant patterns: each gives us another way to look at something.

A few threads to follow.
-
What do we carry forward?
Family stories make memory personal. History opens the question out to communities: what survives, what changes, and who gets remembered. Reading the two together helps me think about inheritance at both scales.

What would change my mind?
Investing and unusual reports ask different things of the evidence. Both interest me because a compelling explanation can outrun what we know. The connection is a habit of judgement: look at the source, consider another account, and leave room to revise.
-
What can making teach me?
An idea changes when I try to build it. A historical question becomes a game; a mathematical relationship becomes a drawing. Working with code and AI gives me more ways to try those translations, inspect the result, and learn what the original idea left out.
Give an idea
another form.
A pair of repeating motions can make an intricate drawing. Change their relationship and the whole figure changes. This Lissajous study is one way into the Ledger’s interest in harmony and pattern.
The equation describes the drawing. Connections between essays are explained in words; they are not mathematical measurements of how alike the ideas are.

When a thought becomes a motif.
A musical motif can return with a different feeling, much as a memory changes when I revisit it. That possibility is part of what I wanted to explore in Low North: giving personal material a form I could hear. The album notes describe those creative intentions and how the music was made.
Listen to The Lamp Index →What does a house hold?
The title, cover and track names of Low North’s new album open a connection between a building’s structure and the experience of living in it.
